Salt toothpaste is made of sodium chloride, namely table salt. Sea salt brings many benefits to your body. Here, we are going to take a look at its effects on your teeth. The salt in the toothpaste works like a gentle abrasive. It will help you get rid of the stains from the teeth. Some salt toothpaste brands also contain baking soda which is basically another type of salt, sodium bicarbonate. However, one of the most important ingredients is missing here.

Many salt toothpaste brands do not include fluoride. Fluoride also represents a type of salt, helping you prevent cavities. This mineral helps you regenerate enamel and strengthen your teeth. When using a salt toothpaste, you will brush your teeth a little bit different. Firstly, the brush needs to be dry when you apply the toothpaste.

If you want to replace a normal toothpaste with baking soda or sea salt, you should try. They represent some of the main ingredients which could help you maintain your teeth healthy. These ingredients are common in natural tooth care. Salt increases the production of saliva in your mouth. Therefore, specialists indicate that saliva develops a natural antibacterial protection for your teeth’ enamel.

Baking soda is an alkaline mineral helps to alkalise your saliva. Nevertheless, fluoride toothpaste is very useful in healing cavities. Experts recommend that we should use only sea salt that contains all the trace elements and minerals, without additives. However, salt is corrosive and should not be used to clean teeth with metal fillings or crowns.

Some specialists in dental hygiene recommend the use of natural toothpaste since fluoride toothpaste proved to cause other issues. Even if it is useful in preventing cavities, sometimes it may cause acne outbreaks around your chin or your mouth. Titanium dioxide, another toothpaste ingredient, is harmful. It might be carcinogenic. The nano-sized particles of titanium dioxide can be absorbed, causing damage to cells in the body.
