1790 sulfate free shampoo review

Sometimes, as you age, your hair gets frizzier, dryer, rarer, with a tendency to fall or develop dandruff and itchiness. Maybe not all women reaching their fifties experience all these changes, but I do. My hair was very important to me my entire life. I certainly was not going to give up and settle with thin dry brittle hair just because I was getting older. Therefore, I started looking for the best sulfate free shampoo on the market. I know that sulfate free shampoos are safer, milder, and better for sensitive hair issues, so I decided to switch from my regular salon shampoo to a sulfate free one. I scoured the Internet for a while and decided to buy the 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo. I have to mention I have medium-long straight hair. In the past, I dyed it a few times and I employed some styling methods such as curling irons – I am, however, certain that I did not commit abuses on my hair. I used the 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo twice a week for a full month. Now it is time to share how thing went.

Things to Consider before Buying the 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo

I am fully aware that age comes with certain issues regarding a woman’s looks. While I am able to keep my fine lines and wrinkles under control, I found that my hair did not fare well through the changes, even if I used plenty of natural homemade hair masks.

Nevertheless, I wanted to do something about my dry, itchy scalp (which also started developing some dandruff in the last year) and my thin, frizzy hair. I did not want to reach the point of no return and part ways with my hair. Back in the day, my gorgeous hair was a reason of pride and self-esteem. Nowadays, it requires styling to appear normal and decent.

I went to see a dermatologist, of course, as I know age, hormones, and hair need to learn to coexist in balance together, but she recommended me a more nutritious diet (which I followed) and a botanical shampoo, preferably without parabens and other chemicals.

This is how I ended up using the 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo. Now, I have to share with you some things about this shampoo should you feel inclined to use it.

  • Possible side effects: The shampoo should not cause any side effect, containing mostly natural ingredients, but I learned one could not be too careful. I use plenty of cosmetic products for my face and body and I always recommend everyone to perform a skin test before putting anything on their skin, scalp, and hair. I bought the shampoo and performed the test with no reactions whatsoever. Nevertheless, this shampoo is not 100% natural or organic. I advise everyone to carefully read the label. You may be sensitive to some of the chemical ingredients in the shampoo, even if they are the usual stuff you find in all hair care products.

  • Efficiency: Many expect botanical shampoos and sulfate free shampoos to work better and faster than regular shampoos. I set my expectations on a medium level and was not disappointed. The first four-five uses brought me a squeaky-clean scalp with less dandruff and less itchiness. The following uses also contributed to my hair becoming softer, smoother, shinier, and more voluminous. What I am trying to say is that if you expect overnight results, you may not get what you want. On the other hand, if you have patience and wait for your scalp and hair get used to the new treatment, you will be pleased with the results.

  • Scent: For me, this shampoo does not smell like a corner of paradise, but it does not smell bad either. It smells… botanical. Many reviewers loved the scent while others resented it. Smell is something extremely personal and I do not want to delve more into the subject. I personally do not have anything against it, even if I am certain other similar shampoos smell better. It does contain artificial fragrance/perfume. If you do not want this, you should look for alternatives.

  • Type of hair: The shampoo worked well with my dry hair, but I am not sure it works with all types of hair. It does a great job with split ends, breaking hair, thin and dry hair, but I am not sure it works the same for oily hair for instance. My recommendation is to read the label carefully and make sure the shampoo shows good results for your hair type. This is a good product for dry dandruff-y hair and it would be a shame to dismiss the product simply because it does not work for your hair type.

  • Instructions: Follow the instructions carefully before using this shampoo. It does not come with its own conditioner, but I used my regular conditioner for thin, dry, and brittle hair, and everything worked out smoothly.

Who Should Buy This Shampoo

Sulfate free shampoos are a good option for people who want a safer, more nourishing approach to hair care. They work well with falling hair, coarse hair, damaged hair, and so on. For me, it was aged hair - frizzier than usual, thinner, dryer, more stressed, flakier, with a breaking and falling tendency.

This particular shampoo comes with interesting ingredients that may help people with dandruff problems, poor scalp hydration and moisturizing, itchy scalp, and hair frailty problems. Since I use temporary hair dyes to hide away the white strands, I was afraid that the shampoo would strip away the color. It did not, and it got extra points from me for this reason.

This shampoo is also a nice way to learn if sulfate free and botanical shampoos are the ones you were looking for. It is extremely cheap – which does not mean it is of poor quality – so even if it does not work for you as you expected, at least you know you did not spend a fortune on it. I tested it for somewhat the same reasons. I had not used sulfate free shampoos before, nor botanical ones, therefore I decided to play it safe, financially speaking.

Who Should Not Buy This Shampoo

If you are allergic or sensitive to any of this shampoo’s ingredients, you should look for something else. You should also look for something else if you want a full organic product. I was not ready to follow the totally organic path, therefore this shampoo was a good choice for me. It may not be for you.

Also, if you have a sensitive nose, you may want to look for a different type of fragrance. You cannot fully take my word for this shampoo’s scent, as I may have a more sensitive sense of smell. Even so, I was not bothered by the product’s smell, but I am sure other people might be. The combination of fragrance and botanical ingredients my lead to a funny scent.

1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo

This 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo contains both natural and artificial ingredients. Just as the manufacturer admits, the shampoo does not fall under the “organic” label. However, when I looked into this product, I found that it contained some ingredients that promised better hair care and scalp health. First, it contains chamomile flower extract. I do love chamomile tea both as a medicinal drink and a medicinal face wash.

Another great ingredient that convinced me to buy the shampoo was the sage extract. If you do not know, allow an old woman to tell you: sage works amazing as an anti-aging agent, especially for the skin. Sage has anti-bacterial properties, it tones oily skin and it offers skin a boost of anti-oxidants. I sometimes cleansed my hair with sage tea and it has good effects.

The sage in the shampoo promises a good fight against hair fall with the stimulation of hair growth. It also works to strengthen your hair and protect it against free radicals and bacteria. It may have been the sage that performed so well against my itchy scalp and my dandruff.

I also enjoyed the presence of lemongrass in this shampoo. Lemongrass is a terrific source of iron – thus fighting against hair fall. It is also a rich source of Vitamin B, an essential ingredient to hair, skin, and overall health care.

The shampoo contains other natural ingredients, mixed with artificial ones that probably enhance the former potency. I, for one, was very pleased with the general results.

Pros

  • Effective for thin dry hair
  • Good for dandruff control and itchy scalp
  • Contains plenty of natural ingredients

Cons

  • Scent may not be on your liking
  • You may experience side effects
  • Not 100% organic

Features and Benefits

Age takes its toll on women – especially when it comes to their skin and hair. Add stress, not-so-healthy-lifestyles, pollution, putting two kids through college, the job, and the world we live in and you can get a clear picture of the things we have to deal with (besides crow’s feet and some extra pounds). I was not going to settle with the situation. I love my hair and I want to keep it healthy and beautiful as much as I can. I am writing this review after a month of use, at a two uses/week rate. This is what I can say about the shampoo’s features and benefits at this point.

  • The shampoo is rich in botanical ingredients with medicinal properties. This is good, because the product allows cleaner scalp, anti-bacterial protection, free radicals protection, and UV and pollution protection. I used some of the botanical ingredients in the shampoo separately, as teas to clean my hair with, and I found that the mix in the shampoo delivered on the promise.

  • The shampoo controls dandruff well. This was one of my main goals, actually, to prevent dandruff, itchy scalp, and dry scalp skin, and I can say it rose to the expectations.

  • The shampoo offers multiple hair benefits, besides solving my dry, breaking, thinning, frizzy hair problems: it protected my hair color (even if it was a temporary washable one) and it made it look shinier, smoother, silkier even, with more volume and more texture.

  • Besides the botanical ingredients present in this sulfate free shampoo, I found that the artificial ingredients, present in almost all cosmetic and hair products worked well also.

  • The shampoo’s formula is beneficial for falling hair. If your hair gets thinner and thinner, you will probably start losing it along the way. I found that the botanical extracts in this shampoo, especially the ones rich in iron and vitamins had a nice effect on strengthening my hair and prevent it from falling or breaking every time I combed it.

  • The shampoo has good nourishing and moisturizing properties. You know dry skin and dry hair need all the moisture they can get – and the safe, healthy type of one as well. The aloe vera in this shampoo, together with the witch hazel extract and the added glycerin made a nice combo to nourish my hair and hydrate my scalp. Of course, the shampoo may not work as well if you already have oily hair.

  • The shampoo is cruelty free. This is very important to me and I always try to learn if a product is cruelty free before I buy it. If this is equally important to you, my advice is to always ask the manufacturer. The product comes with a “Not Tested on Animals” label I appreciated a lot.
  • The shampoo is made in the USA. You may call me an old-fashioned woman, but I am actually an American entrepreneur ready to support fellow local businesses. I do not mind using imported products, do not get me wrong, but if I can become a supporter of a local business, I do not hesitate.

  • The shampoo works great with your conditioner of choice. This shampoo does not come together with its own conditioner, but it does not have to. I use some conditioners, although I prefer herbal and homemade hair treatments. The shampoo does not clash against other hair products that promise better care for dry or damaged hair.

  • It is affordable. Well, it is more than affordable; it is downright cheap. As an entrepreneur, I know that sometimes, low prices equal low quality, but this is not the case. The bottle is smaller than other ones, but the shampoo foams and lathers incredibly well – so you will need a small amount to get the desired results. If you ask me, this is an excellent quality-price balance.
  • Social Proof

I wish more and more people to make educated choices when it comes to spending their money to protect and enhance their health. I would never buy a shampoo or even a lipstick without conducting research. Therefore, I read a handful of reviews about this shampoo before paying for it. This is what I found…

    Conclusion

It is not easy to admit you are getting old and you start to show it. Your skin gets dry and wrinkly, your body gains some weight, and your hair begins to show signs of dryness, frailty, breakage, and falling. It is simply not shiny, smooth, voluminous, and beautiful anymore. If you want to fight against aging signs and are ready to spend some time with personal care (more than you spent in your youth), the 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo may be a good start.

I tried this shampoo to alleviate the symptoms of dry scalp and hair: itchiness, dandruff, an unpleasant feeling of brittle, a frizzy unhealthy look. It worked better than expected, especially given its very low price.

I enjoyed the mix of botanical ingredients, flowers, herbs, and roots’ extracts, all mixed with artificial ingredients helping the product foam and lather well. The downsize of the product is that it is not 100% organic. I compensate this by cleansing and treating my hair with herbal teas and natural homemade hair masks. The shampoo does not clash against my DIY hair care efforts. On the contrary, I find that the effects stack upon each other.

Another advantage of this shampoo was that it does not behave like regular sulfate free shampoos. It comes with a thick texture and density that allows better foaming. I know this is because the artificial ingredients in the shampoo – something I enjoy. However, if you want a fully organic sulfate free shampoo, you should look at the alternatives presented above. Usually, sulfate free shampoos do not lather well, so this is something to consider before buying any best sulfate free shampoo you see in tops and lists.

The fragrance of this shampoo may be a small issue. I do have a sensitive nose and the mix of fragrance with the botanical ingredients’ natural scent may be a deal breaker for some. I ignored the issue and I am glad I did. I do not think that your hair smelling like tea and herbs is indeed an unsurmountable problem. However, if your nose is even more sensitive than mine is, and you do not appreciate all fragrances, you should look for alternatives as well.

All in all, I enjoyed the results this shampoo offered. My hair got stronger, more voluminous, shinier, silkier and healthier-looking. Dandruff was not a problem anymore, nor itchy uncomfortable scalp. The frizzy hair began looking better and my hairdo stopped losing its volume, texture, and stance in the middle of the day.

Is this product the best sulfate free shampoo on the market? You should be the one to decide. There are plenty of other choices: 100% organic, gender-independent ones, with multiple hair benefits and suitable for all types of hair. My advice is to research and make an educated choice. However, if you want good results at an affordable price, then the 1790 Best Daily Natural Nourishing Botanical Shampoo is something to try!
