Honeydew ll Natural sulfate free shampoo review

Shedding hair all over the house and the office is not pleasant, especially when said hair ends up in your food. While I do not consider myself a woman with falling hair problems, I am one that has hair so frail and so breakable, it is a nightmare. My husband had enough with my hair going all places and recommended me a short pixie cut to control the problem. Nothing worked, unfortunately. Instead of pulling long strands out of clothes, bed sheets, towels, and soup, now we were both pulling out short spiky and easier to swallow short hairs.

I went to the doctor for full set of analyses and we found I was healthy. I wasn’t lacking any major mineral or vitamin and there were no imbalances to justify the quantity of hair that I was shedding. Do not get me wrong, I know we lose around 100 hairs a day, but my problem went beyond the 100 safe mile.

I returned to my hair stylist almost begging her to do something: shave my head, glue my hair onto my scalp, apply some miraculous treatment, whatever she could think of. Instead of shaving may head, though, my stylist recommended me the Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth shampoo.

I found later that sulfate free shampoos enriched with natural ingredients are safer for frail and breaking hair and they can actually contribute to hair growth and strengthening. I used the shampoo for two months and I am ready to share with the world my views on this product, now that I can sustain my words with facts and visible results.

Things to Consider before Buying the Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo

People who have thin breakable hair can easily relate to my problem. We have volume, we have shine, beauty, texture, and health, but we do not have any hair strength. Comb your hair and leave a hair carpet behind. Cook and see everything spoiled by hair. Shake your head while watching the movie and here you go again with the vacuum cleaner. I may exaggerate a little, but you know what I am talking about: some hairs are just so thin; they can break if you blow in their direction.

My hair stylist recommended me this shampoo as she heard about it from other stylists and salon clients. They all seemed happy with the results, so she advised me to try it as well. The formula seemed mild enough not to cause any more hair fall and the added coconut oil should have boosted hair strengthening and hair growth.

As I said, I used the shampoo for two months, at a two washes per week rate. I still keep my hair short. I do not dye it and I do not blow dry it. Here are the things I believe you may want to consider before you buy and use this shampoo.

  • Possible side effects: The shampoo should not cause any side effects. However, I found that the shampoo did leave behind an itch. It was not uncomfortable, but I felt it. While the shampoo advertises a pure natural formula, it is not 100% organic. If you have sensitive skin as I do, you may feel some tingles upon using. The shampoo contains fragrance and other artificial ingredients that may bother people looking for organic alternatives and for shampoos that come with more herbal extracts, essential oils, added vitamins and minerals and so on. Some such ingredients may lead to unwanted issues, such as drying your hair even more than it is. I have oily hair and I am not at all bothered, but I have seen some reviews saying that the shampoo dries the scalp and hair a bit too much.

  • Efficiency: For the two months I waited to see if the shampoo really did something with my hair-shedding situation, I enjoyed a nice shampoo with other hair benefits: cleanness, moisturizing, volume, shine, better texture and healthier looking strands. As new hair growth is concerned, I did not experience what you may call hair growth per se. It did lower the shedding and I was pleased with the result. If, however, you expect a Tina Turner mane to just burst on your bald head overnight, that will not happen. My satisfaction lies within the lower quantity of hair I have to swipe, vacuum, and collect from all nooks and corners of my house.

  • Scent: The mild coconut in this shampoo is something to love – but I love coconut and even seek this fragrance in cosmetic and beauty products. As far as I could understand, nobody complains about this shampoo’s scent, even if some consider the perfume artificial and not natural.

  • Type of hair and skin: I think this shampoo does not work well on all types of skin and hair. People with very dry hair that is also frail, brittle, frizzy, and breaking might want to look for an alternative to this shampoo. Some other reviewers said they had even more hair fall and straw-like hair after using this shampoo. I cannot confirm or deny such reactions, but I can recommend that you get a sulfate free shampoo that is more suitable to your specific type of hair and skin. My oily hair fared well with the shampoo, but I cannot guarantee for everybody.

  • Shampoo’s bottle and shampoo’s density: This may be a deal breaker for some. The bottle of the shampoo is hard and difficult to squeeze. I am not the faint-of-heart type of woman, but I do not find it nice to exert force just to squeeze the shampoo when I am in the shower. The shampoo’s density may also be an issue for some. It has a thick texture, which is nice, because it foams and lathers well. On the other hand, you have to squeeze hard a hard bottle just to get some thick, hard-to-get shampoo that is stuck inside the bottle. Now you don’t hear often about such things when it comes to drugstore shampoos, let alone salon ones.

  • The shampoo may not be cruelty free although it should be. I did not ask the manufacturer, but I asked the stylist and her colleagues and they said the shampoo should be cruelty free since it is all natural. If you want to make sure a cosmetic product is absolutely cruelty free, always ask the manufacturer. I would have liked the shampoo to come with a label stating exactly what should we expect. I do not live in a parallel universe, I know big cosmetic companies test products on animals, and I try to avoid them. A disclaimer from the manufacturer should build on the trust we are willing to offer that said manufacturer. Unfortunately, this shampoo does not come with an animal cruelty-free label, nor a disclaimer for animal testing.

Who Should Buy This Shampoo

If you want to begin a quest searching for the best sulfate free shampoos on the market that promise hair strengthening and hair rejuvenation, this shampoo may be the first step you want to make. Overall it is a good product and it does leave your hair better, stronger, silkier, and healthier-looking. It is not Rogaine, however, and if Rogaine is what you are looking for, you can continue with your research.

Who Should Not Buy This Shampoo

If you are allergic or sensitive to any of this shampoo’s ingredients, you should look for something else. I also said it may not work well for all hair types (especially dry ones with flaky and irritable scalps), so you should focus your research on shampoos that come with hair type specific designs.

If you are not into coconut, you may also want to research other products on the market, even if the botanical and natural ones come with earthy, herbal smells not everybody enjoys.

Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo

This Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo contains a tailored coconut oil formula. The coconut oil hair treatment that the product advertises can maximize the natural properties of coconut oil to enable faster hair growth. It works well with hydrating the scalp, lowering hair loss and shedding while promoting the quick strengthening of your hair. After a few uses, it can restore the hair to its natural glossy voluminous state! Unfortunately – and I may be subjective and have impossible expectations – the shampoo did not promote hair growth as it boasted. Surely, I shed fewer hairs, but I did not grow new ones, or at least I did not notice such a phenomenon.

The shampoo also contains vitamins and other ingredients that make an important part in anybody’s hair care routine. The formula comes with added vitamins E and K. I saluted the added caprylic acid in this shampoo, a fatty acid used in the treatment of acne, infections, candida, fungi, bacteria, and more. You may feel the scalp itch after using the shampoo because of the acid. I knew about it from before, this is why I was less bothers with the itch.

The shampoo also comes together with antioxidants, which may also play an important role in nourishing and strengthening of our hair. If less shedding is your main goal (I think I reached the natural 100 hairs/day limit), this shampoo can be the answer to your problems. It foams and lathers just like any regular shampoo (even if it is sulfate free), but you may feel annoyed with the squeezing of the bottle.

I think I can sum up everything by conveying the pros and cons of this shampoo as follows:

Pros

  • Effective for shedding hair
  • Makes hair look and feel better
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Hard to use (stiff bottle, thick shampoo)
  • You may experience side effects
  • Not organic

Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo Features and Benefits

I do not mind wearing my hair long, medium or short. In fact, I like to change from time to time and experiment with it a little (except for dye, hot styling instruments and, if possible, blow dryers). What I do mind is leaving hair wherever I may roam. My office colleagues make fun of me, my husband oscillates between trolling and disgust, my parents are worried I carry around some chronic, mysterious diseases, and my friends change my nicknames from one week to the next.

If you understand that shedding hair can turn into a physical and psychological nightmare, you will also understand why I took my time to test and try this shampoo for two months before I spoke my mind. Now I think I am ready to share the story and the view on the product.

Generally, these are this shampoo’s features and benefits I found to be the most important:

  • The shampoo comes with an enriched formula containing coconut oil and added vitamins E and K, caprylic acid and antioxidants. This is good, because the product allows for stronger roots.
  • The shampoo make the hair get harder to break. This was in fact my main goal, and I found the product to be satisfactory from this point of view. Even if I wear a pixie cut and comb it with my fingers, I noticed less hairs in the shower, on the towel, on the comb, in the bed and in the kitchen. I can now wear hats and caps and rest assured my hair would not break because of them.

  • The shampoo offers a few other hair benefits: shinier hair, better volume, better texture and shine, better body. My scalp also felt cleaner and fresher.

  • The shampoo’s formula is beneficial for thin oily hair. I do have plenty of hair so hair density was not such an issue. I also have oily skin and hair, and this was an issue, unfortunately. I think the shampoo works fine for thin, brittle, breaking hair, but the results may be more significant for those with oily hair. People with already dry scalp and hair may feel a bit too dry at some point.

  • The shampoo is unisex. My husband tried it in an enthusiastic burst of support. He was surprised by the result. He does not have any single hair problem but he felt the difference in the hair volume, shine, silky texture

  • The shampoo is made in the USA. If I can choose to support a local entrepreneur or family business, a brand I believe in or a local company, I will. The product won some points for being made here, at home.

  • It is affordable. This shampoo is cheap and easy to find in online stores. If you expect low prices to equal low quality, you should know this shampoo brings good value for its money even if it may annoy you on occasion.

Social Proof

Shedding hair is a major issue for many women and men. We do not necessarily show signs of health issues or alopecia, but our hair is thin and vulnerable enough to fall behind with any given occasion. I admit, I bought the shampoo after I looked at some reviews and decided to try it. In the meanwhile, I discovered other similar shampoos, but I will speak about them in a second. If you want to see what others have to say about this shampoo, here are some social testimonials.

Absolutely love it! Saw some reviews about leaving the hair straw like or rough, but I haven't had any problems. I use it in the mornings with no conditioner. My hair feels rough when I get out and it's wet, but I think that's because I'm not using conditioner. As soon as it drys my hair is soft and feels wonderful. I've been using it for about a week now and I can see a difference, my hair feels stronger and not as stringy. Definatly recomend it!
Only thing is bottle is small, still worth it though. Oh and coconut smell not that strong but that doesn't bug me at all.

Alternatives to the Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo

If you are interested in sulfate free shampoos that are natural and come with plenty of hair benefits, I did some digging with the help of my stylist. I put on the short list three alternatives to this product so you can make the best choice when it comes to your hair health and looks.

This shampoo might work well for both men and women. It contains organic ingredients and it seems to work well with all types of hair.

Who Should Use this Shampoo

People with dry, damaged, and falling hair; men and women with stressed and aging hair or people with chemically damaged hair.

Baebody Shampoo vs. Honeydew Shampoo Comparison

  • Both are sulfate free;
  • Baebody is better for dandruff control;
  • Bebody comes with organic ingredients;
  • Both work well with dyed hair;
  • Baebody is more expensive.

If you want an alternative to Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo, check out the Baebody Sulfate Free Shampoo to make the choice that is good for you!

Another best sulfate free shampoo, according to reviewers, is Maple Holistics Sulfate Free Shampoo.

Who Should Use this Shampoo

People who want thicker, more voluminous, stronger hair; people with falling hair problems, people with dandruff, and people who need more hair protection against stress, UV, pollution, and dermatological problems.

Maple Holistics Shampoo vs. Honeydew Shampoo Comparison

  • Both are sulfate free;
  • Both encourage hair volume;
  • Honeydew is made in the USA;
  • Maple Holistics is more affordable;
  • Maple Holistics may pose problems to people allergic to nuts.

If you want an alternative to the Honeydew shampoo, check out the Maple Holistics Sulfate Free Argan Oil Shampoo! It may be what you have always been looking for!

This is another excellent option in the sulfate free shampoo products area, and it seems to be unisex as well.

Who Should Use this Shampoo

People who want organic hair care, dandruff control, hair loss control, hair repair after chemical or UV damage, people with stressed hair.

Boldify Shampoo vs. Honeydew Shampoo Comparison

  • Both are sulfate free shampoos;
  • Boldify is cruelty free;
  • Boldify is more expensive;
  • None of them is fully organic;
  • Boldify is better against hair loss.

If you feel you want to gain more hair and strengthen the one you already have, then Boldify Sulfate Free Hair Thickening Shampoo may be exactly what you needed.

Conclusion

Shedding hair with no apparent medical reason pushes people to the brink of extreme frustration. It is not healthy, socially acceptable, hygienic, visually pleasant or psychologically comfortable. I had to do something about it. Besides changing a few elements of my daily lifestyle, get more vitamins and minerals into the diet, sleep more, exercise more, and worry less, I found that my hair was still frail as if made of glass.

This is how I ended up using the Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth shampoo. In the meantime, I learned there were others similar shampoos out there that elicited even better results. However, I will not complain about this shampoo. I enjoyed the mix of antioxidants, coconut oil, vitamins and fatty acids (which did not contribute to my oily hair getting oilier), as well as I enjoyed the scent.

Granted, there was some itching, probably caused by one or more ingredients in the shampoo, but it went away fast and my scalp enjoyed some freshness and cleanness. While this shampoo is not 100% organic (and I dare say not even 100% natural), it did strengthen my hair and lowered the shed hairs numbers in the two months of testing.

A minus point for not disclosing the animal testing issue. I know we should all take the default route and believe there is no animal cruelty involved in making natural shampoos, but I would have liked to see the words written in black on white.

I enjoyed the scent of this shampoo very much. If you are a coconut buff as I am, you will probably enjoy it as well. Smell is very intimate and personal and one fragrance cannot please the entire population. However, before I will test other similar shampoos, I will research their scents – I am not a huge fan of things smelling like bottled chemicals or medicinal herbs.

Overall, I enjoyed the results this shampoo offered. My hair got stronger, more voluminous, shinier, silkier and healthier-looking. Most importantly, I enjoyed the lowering of fallen hairs and breaking ones. I also enjoyed more dandruff control, even if dandruff is not a recurrent or serious problem for me.

If you have extremely sensitive and dry skin with dermatological problems, you may want to look for other alternatives. The shampoo does not come with side effects, but others reported scalp itchiness (me included), more fallen hair, straw-like dry hair, and so on. I think this shampoo works best for normal or oily hair, but this is up to you to decide upon testing the product.

If you feel annoyed by the struggle with getting the shampoo out of the bottle, I feel you. The bottle is too stiff and the shampoo is too thick. Do not give up, but train your fingers’ muscles trying to get enough product to wash your hair. It is a drawback, but not a tragedy. If you feel your hygiene and personal routine should flow smoother (without you training for a boxing match), you should look at the alternatives presented above.

Make sure you use the shampoo within its expiration date. Never use anything expired on your skin and hair. I did my best to use the shampoo within these margins.

Is this product the best sulfate free shampoo on the market? It may be for some, while others can certainly find something better. I will not probably use this shampoo until the end of days either. However, if you simply want to start from something, try the sulfate free version of the shampoo, solve some brittle shedding hair issues, and get more beautiful hair in the same time, then the Honeydew Sulfate Free Hair Growth Shampoo may be exactly what you need to begin.
