Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo

When you go to the store for a new hair product, it can be kind of overwhelming. Target and Walmart have so many choices. Literally walls and walls of beauty products. And then when you look online and find so many more. Obviously this isn’t a bad thing, choices are definitely good. Everyone is so different and there really isn’t a product out there will meet everyone’s needs. However, there are a few brands that really stick out in a crowd because basically everyone has used one of their products at some point in their life. Suave is one of those for me. I currently use Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner. It’s affordable but really good quality and it works really well for me!

So when I started working on our list of the 10 Best Dry Shampoo Options for 2018, I was automatically drawn to Suave. I already use their shampoo and I like it, so why wouldn’t I like their dry shampoo? Not only is it a brand I know, but it’s infused with keratin which is supposed to keep your hair feeling smooth and manageable. Since I’m already on the market for a dry shampoo I think this might be a good place to start. I’ve already looked into a bunch. But when it comes down to it, I like to stick with what I know! Time to find out if I would like this as much as their regular shampoos!

Things to Consider When Trying Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo

It’s pretty easy to compare products when you break them down. There are really only a few aspects of this product we need to look into. The most important things to consider are the ones that they all have in common. It will make them easy to compare! Things like scent, uses, affordability, drawbacks and so on. Hopefully this will make it really easy for you to figure out whether this is the right product for you!

  • Scent: As usual, there was a pretty mixed reaction to the scent of this dry shampoo. It’s strong, but it smells good. Most people didn’t mind it because it fades pretty quickly. But others couldn’t handle it because they were really sensitive to smells. So as far as scent goes, you’re going to have to see for yourself whether this will work for you!

  • Hair Types: This will work on all hair types! It is one of those dry shampoos that are better suited for people with light or medium hair color. When you have dark hair the residue will probably show up easily unless you take it really easily. I don’t know if I would recommend this for people who have very oily dark hair. The more product you have to use, the more residue there will be.

  • Affordability: Suave is a very affordable brand. It always has been! I remember my Mom always used to avoid it unless we were really short on money. She just didn’t like the idea of buying the cheapest thing she could find. I definitely prefer the Suave Professional products over their normal options. But a lot of people like their original products, which are slightly more affordable than their line of professional products.

  • Convenience: I’ve said it once and I will say it again, dry shampoo is an incredibly convenient product. Dry shampoo on general is so easy to use and this one is no different. There are the powder versions and you can use things like cornstarch or baby powder. But aerosol cans like this one help you apply the product evenly. Not only will this freshen your hair and absorb the oils, but it will leave your hair looking and feeling smooth and manageable. That makes this not only easy to use, but your hair will feel great!

  • Uses: You can use Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo to freshen up your hair between showers. It is really common for people to avoid washing their hair everyday, even if they do hop in the shower to wash their bodies. It can help your hair stay healthy because you aren’t constantly washing out the oils. I typically can go about a day or two before I look like I really need a shower. I normally wait at least a full day and then I use dry shampoo on occasion, just to break up the greasy look at my roots. That is what dry shampoo is designed to do. It can help you keep your hair healthy, preserve your hair color longer and can help you add body and texture to your hair.

  • Drawbacks: This has the typical drawbacks of pretty much any dry shampoo. It can make your hair look dull and leave a residue. The dullness can be really hard to avoid, unless you only use it underneath and never on top. But doing so might not absorb the oils on top where they are most visible. Residue is one thing that a lot of people complain about. But it can be really easy to avoid! You just really have to follow the directions carefully. So shake first, hold the bottle at least 8-10 inches away from your head, if not further and start adding the product to your hair slowly, starting underneath and working it through.

Who Should Buy This Product

I would recommend this for someone who wants a brand that they know and trust. Suave is very popular and their line of professional products are really great, from what I have tried so far! This is also a fantastic product if you hate the feeling of dry shampoo. Ones that I have used in the past have make my hair feel chalky, heavy or even a bit sticky from time to time. But most of all they just make it feel super tangled and hard to brush. But when you do brush it, watch out for the frizz and static!

But Suave Professionals dry shampoo is infused with keratin and will help keep your hair feeling manageable. This is really a fantastic aspect of this product. The gross feeling your hair gets with dry shampoo is really the only thing I hate about them. But I deal with it because I hate oily hair even more. So if this really makes your hair feel smooth and manageable I’m all for this product!

Who Shouldn't Buy This Product

I don’t think I would recommend this one for dark hair. There were really mixed reviews when it came to the residue. I know residue is another thing people really hate about dry shampoos. Especially if they have dark hair. This dry shampoo by Suave Professionals worked best for people with light hair. It worked for medium levels of hair color as well, but it can make your hair look dull. But when it comes to dark hair you have to be really careful that you don’t make your hair look grey with this product.

No matter what, it is so affordable that it doesn’t really hurt to try it anyway. But in all reality this might not be your all time favorite if you have dark hair. I’m pretty tempted to get this and see if I can get good results for myself and my husband. I have light hair and he has really dark hair, so it would be a pretty great test!

Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Keratin Infusion

Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo is infused with keratin. It comes in a 4.3oz aerosol spray can. A little bit will got a long way and with products like these you always want to start small and work your hair until you achieve your desired look. The added ingredient of keratin will help absorb and control oils and keep your hair looking smooth. It will also help to keep your hair feeling manageable, which is pretty unheard of with the dry shampoos I have tried in the past. It has a pleasant scent, but if you end up needing to use a lot at one time it can be very strong. Overall this is a very affordable product that will absorb oils, help add texture and can be used by just about anyone. Men and women both love it!

Pros

  • Keratin infused
  • Absorbs quickly
  • Hair maintains a smooth and manageable feeling

Cons

  • Can have a strong scent
  • Not the best for dark haired beauties
  • Can make hair appear dull

Features and Benefits

As always, I want to touch on some of the best aspects of this product. There are the general details you can find out about and we have already touched on. But I also want to break it down further to individual features that will help you compare Suave to some other brands.
  • Dry shampoo like Suave is incredibly quick and easy to use. Since it comes in an aerosol can, it is very convenient. You can take it with you anywhere you go! Coming in this container also make it extremely easy to apply evenly. I used to use baby powder or cornstarch on occasion because it works in the same way. But it was always so hard to blend it in properly, this is so much easier!
  • It will save you so much time when you’re getting ready! It will help by breaking up the appearance of dirty hair with just a few quick sprays.
  • This is a very versatile product, it can be used on all hair types. It is used by men and women! Men get greasy hair too after all! My husband is actually the one who introduced me to dry shampoo in the first place. He always had short hair, so he could get away with day 2 hair easily. But now that he has been growing his hair out he has been much more interested in dry shampoos too.
  • Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo is infused with keratin. The added ingredient will help keep your hair smooth and manageable. It is also a big part of why it absorbs and controls the oils so well.

  • This is the perfect way to revive your hair between showers. Not only will it absorb the oils, but it will also give you volume at the roots. Dry shampoo helps give you a fresher look because when your hair is dirty and oily it normally falls very flat at the roots first. This will give you just the boost you’re looking for.

  • Suave is a very well known brand. It is widely available and used by practically everyone at some point in their lives. Since they are so affordable overall, this is a very affordable dry shampoo in comparison to many others!

  • This has a very good smell if you like keratin! Some people were really impressed. There are so many dry shampoos that have an incredibly overwhelming scent. You shouldn’t have the same problem here. As long as you don’t use a whole bunch!

  • My favorite feature about this product by far was the fact that it leaves your hair very soft and manageable. I have never used a dry shampoo that hasn’t left my hair feeling incredibly chalky, sticky or just all around dirty. I never complained because I just figured it was unavoidable. But Suave dry shampoo will do the job and still keep your hair feelings beautiful.

Social Proof

Suave Professionals dry shampoo has an incredible number of reviews on Amazon. A lot of people have used it and that’s something I really like to see. It kind of feels like there’s safety in numbers. If a lot of people like it, I probably will too right?

While that’s not always the case...I certainly think so in this case! The main reason so many people have tried it is because it is very affordable. People are willing to try it because it won’t be a huge hit to the wallet. So they get it without high expectations because it’s just Suave. They have great products, but they also have a reputation as a cheap brand. At least with people I know personally. But they all seemed pleasantly surprised! Not only is this affordable, but after using it your hair will still feel soft and manageable. I didn’t even know it was achievable!

Alternatives

In case you were a tad skeptical of Suave. Maybe you have dark hair, maybe you just want to see what else is out there. No matter your reasons, you know what you need and I’m only here it give you as much info as possible. So I wanted to toss a few alternatives out there just in case. Here are three more options to consider!

  • Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo

Dove has another affordable option! This dry shampoo comes in a 5oz bottle, so it is a little bit bigger. But has a fresh scent, similar to their soap! It is not as overwhelming (to most) and fades faster. That way even if you start out too strong, you won’t be a walking cloud all day. Dove achieves a lot of similar benefits. It absorbs excess oils, adds body and texture, you don’t need much. It is also quick, easy to apply and will leaving you looking and feeling fresh all day. Overall another fantastic option.

Who Would Buy This Product

I would definitely recommend this for anyone who is looking for something quick and easy for a touch up. Maybe you need something for after work, before you hit the town. Maybe you have colored hair and don’t wash it all the time for color longevity. Whatever your reasons, this is a great option because it will work well and has a really fresh scent!

Dove Refresh + Care vs Suave Professionals: Dry Shampoo Comparison

  • Suave is infused with keratin for added smoothness

  • Doves won’t leave behinds as much residue on darker hair colors

  • Suave will keep your hair feeling very manageable

  • Both are affordable

  • Dove is lightweight and won’t weigh down your hair

Dove is definitely is another great option and is also made by a brand that just about everyone knows. I wouldn’t say that this is in any way a superior product, but it does have its own individual perks. This is another fantastic option for freshening up, absorbing excess oils, saving time and smells clean and refreshing! If you’re interested in Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo you can find it for an excellent price on Amazon!

  • Batiste Beautiful Brunette Dry Shampoo

I feel like I keep recommending this product. But it’s honestly hard not to. This is a fantastic brand that is well known for their dry shampoos. It is also geared towards the darker hair, which can be really hard to find! This particular product is for anyone with brunette or auburn hair. They do have a really dark option as well if you’d like to try that instead. Batiste Beautiful Brunette comes in about a 7oz bottle for a good price. It will add texture and volume, absorb oil and work just like any other dry shampoo. But you won’t have to worry about visible residue as much!

Who Would Buy This Product

I would recommend this for anyone who wants something really affordable and personalized! If you have dark hair you might avoid dry shampoos altogether. I have lighter hair, so I have a lot of options. But my sister has really dark brown hair and she has to be really careful with dry shampoos. Some leave her hair looking very dull and nearly grey in some cases. A shade specific product like this would be a huge help for her! Maybe it’s what you’ve been looking for!

Batiste Beautiful Brunette vs Suave Professionals: Dry Shampoo Comparison

  • Batiste is a well loved brand for dry shampoo

  • Batiste Beautiful Brunette is for brown and auburn hair colors

  • They are both great for all hair types

  • Suave won’t run the possibility of staining your skin

  • Both absorb oil and add great texture and volume

This is the perfect option if you have always been a little wary of dry shampoos because of your dark hair. There is less of a chance of seeing visible residue with this. But keep in mind you still need to be a little careful to check for any residue on your skin! I definitely think this is a cool product idea and I know a few people who would love it! If you’re interesting in trying it out for yourself, you can find Batiste Beautiful Brunette Dry Shampoo on Amazon for a great price!

  • Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo

We reviewed the Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Dry Shampoo in the beginning of this list. This is their other option. It is such a great brand, there’s really no wonder it made the list twice! The other smelled of coconut which was great for some people and overwhelming for others. This is a more neutral scent! This one also comes in a 2-pack for a great price! It will do the same job too. From what I hear, they both absorb oils and add volume, but this one is made more for absorbing oils. So just as the name suggests, Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak is all about making for hair look clean and fresh!

Who Would Buy This Product

If you are more sensitive to scents this could certainly be a better option for you! Everyone seems to love the way it freshens up their hair and absorbs the oils while also providing texture and volume. This is a nice alternative if you want something that is more neutral and straight to the point. No frills or special features, just very basic. That might not be a huge draw for some people. But I know that I personally like products that don’t involve a lot of guesswork. I just want to know it will work the way it promises to work and that the scent won’t knock me out.

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak vs Suave Professionals: Dry Shampoo Comparison

  • Not Your Mother’s has a simple and fresh scent

  • Suave contains keratin for extra oil control and smoothness

  • Both can be used on all hair types

  • Both add volume and texture while absorbing unwanted oils

  • Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak comes in a multipack option

While this might not be everyone’s absolute favorite product, it’s very straightforward and such a time saver. It is easy to use, the smell won’t be overpowering and you can get ready in a pinch. No need for any sticky hairspray when you’re just trying to get a little volume! If you’re interested, you can find Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo on Amazon!

Conclusion

Suave Professionals have done it again. I have always loved their shampoos. I hadn’t always been very interested in their original shampoos. But I think it mainly had to do with the fact that I always used the same thing as my Mom. You see, I have very healthy hair but if I wash it too often it gets dry. It also takes a little while before you can see the oils starting at my roots. My Mom is very different and has very oily hair and showers daily. So she also has to be really careful about what shampoo she uses. Some actually make her hair greasy looking as soon as her hair dries after a shower.

Anyway, long story short, my Mom always avoided Suave. But she actually loved the new line of Suave Professional products when she decided to give them a try. The almond and shea butter option drew her in because it smells so good. It’s actually the one I’ve mainly been using for the last few years. Either way, I think that it doesn’t matter whether you love Suave or are kind of critical, you will be very happy with their dry shampoo! It is so affordable, so easy to use and it won’t knock you out with the scent. You won’t need to use much to freshen up and you can take it with you since it is a 4.3oz portable size. Best of all, it is infused with keratin and actually will leave your hair looking and feeling smooth. You won’t have issues with gross chalky feeling hair. It will stay very manageable and soft.

We did decide to give it a 4 star rating though. It just doesn’t work as well for all hair colors. Even though it works for any hair type, the residue will definitely show up easier on really dark hair colors. This is pretty much one of the biggest deciding factors for most people when they are choosing a dry shampoo. It can be really hard finding the perfect one for dark hair. This is probably not it. But if I ever decide to dye my hair a dark color again, I still might try this personally. I don’t need to use a lot because I don’t produce an overwhelming amount of oils. By using small amounts it should blend in just fine.

Either way this really is a fantastic option for anyone looking for an affordable dry shampoo. If you would like to check it out for yourself, you can find Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Keratin Infusion on Amazon!
