Skin Breaking Out? Here’s Why

August 7, 2017 by Jennifer Scott

At some point in our lives, we have all had unpleasant experience related to skin breaking out. This is most teenagers’ nightmare. However, many adults still fight against this skin problems many years after they have already stepped into adulthood.

If you are one of them and you are wondering why you cannot get rid of acne, stay tuned. In what follows, we will look at 5 reasons that influence your skin health. The main cause of acne lies in the overproduction of oil. In this way, your pores become clogged while a high amount of bacteria inside hair follicles is growing.

When You Experience Skin Breaking Out…

Pay attention to personal care products and makeup

When you know that you have experienced acne breakouts in the past, you need to be very careful when it comes to beauty products or other personal care ones. Some of these expensive products may harm your skin. If your skin were healthy, then it would lift dead skin cells through the pores, allowing it to exfoliate and make collagen.

However, many skin care and beauty products are filled with chemical ingredients which can dehydrate the skin and retain dead skin cells. Therefore, this together with the chemical ingredients can cause several skin problems. Try to avoid using products containing silicones, petrochemicals, dyes and perfumes, parabens, alcohol, and acrylics.

Find more natural products that can replace those containing dangerous chemicals and your skin will clear out.

Pay attention to your diet

Everything you eat has a significant impact on the health of your body, including your skin. A previous study indicated that people who consumed more dairy products, unhealthy fats, sugary foods and less fish were more likely to experience skin breakouts.

Avoid stressing out

If you have an important project at work or you are preparing a presentation for a meeting, this can be pretty stressful. You should know that stress can cause acne, too. Stress triggers an inflammatory response in the body, and the wall of your pores may break. Therefore, your body responds with redness around the broken pores, resulting in pimples.

When under stress, the adrenal gland may trigger an increased production of hormones known as androgens. Therefore, a higher level of androgens increases the risk of acne breakouts.

Avoid smoking

If you are a smoker, you may have already heard how bad smoking can be. However, if all the bad stuff you know about smoking cannot convince to quit, then maybe this one will do the trick. When you light up a cigarette, you are decreasing the oxygen level that would normally reach your face. Smoking will trigger the breakdown of collagen and elastin, causing wrinkles and increased pores.

When smoking, you deplete your skin of nutrients that usually protect and repair the skin when damaged.

Avoid spending too much time in the sun

If you tend to spend hours on end out in the sun, you should know that you may experience skin breakouts. The sun will cause your skin to dry out, determining the overproduction of oil and, thus, skin breakouts.

Summing up

These are some of the reasons you may experience skin breaking out. Now you know what to do to stop this from happening. Make sure you avoid chemical-filled makeup products and pay attention to your diet. A high level of stress can really affect your skin.
