Spring has settled in and summer is just around the corner, which means only one thing. The beauty trends in Spring Summer 2017 are here, and they’re better than ever. As Fashion Week came to an end, we can present you some of the most predominant styles. Clean skin and bright spots of color were present across the board during the recent runway shows, but the stand-out looks were bolder and more dazzling than ever. Read on if you want to know the coolest trends in hair, makeup, and skincare – you might be surprised what’s in!
1. Clean Skin

While the #nomakeup trend is not exactly new, it’s definitely making a great comeback for this season. Not only is this look incredibly empowering, but it’s also getting plenty of attention from celebrities. Kim Kardashian-West wore no make-up at the Balenciaga, while famous singer Alicia Keys continues to keep away from cosmetics. The bare-faced trend was displayed lavishly both on and off the catwalk. Proenza Schouler, Isabel Marant, and Michael Kors models used make-up only to cover blemishes, and Marni, Band of Outsiders, and Antonio Berardi followed suit.
2. Plaits Are Back

While we tend to think plaits are childish, the new season inspires you to channel your inner bohemian. Micro plaits took over runways at Fashion Week, as Missoni models proved accent braids are ideal for adding character to any basic down ‘do. Skinny braids or woven chignons, plaits definitely rocked the Spring/Summer 2017 runways. For those looking for a more romantic, Valentino’s fairytale braids are perfect. But tomboys shouldn’t despair. Dior’s plaited buns are just what you need. There’s a plait style for everyone!
3. Glitter Lips

Shimmer abounded this year on the catwalk, partly thanks to Pat McGrath’s new product line Dramatic sparkle seemed to play a starring role in beauty trends. From glitter lips (Fendi and DKNY) to glitter cuticles (Rodarte), there was enough twinkle to go around. Giamba’s facial glitter shapes and Marc Jacobs’ glitter eyeshadow put a nice ribbon on the entire trend. This spring, sparkle is definitely in. Draw your inspiration from the models who deliciously sported sparkle-loaded pouts.
4. Surprising Color

No-one was more surprised by Gucci’s yellow eyebrows than us. But our eyes didn’t deceive us – models rocked some unexpected, bright colors, including white, lilac, and peach. The Mary Katrantzou models had acid-bright orange, pink and red lips, while Acne Studios featured a memorable mushroom purple. Nina Ricci drew attention to the eyelids, which came in aquamarine, glossy violet, and superb tangerine hues. Color was a very important aspect on the catwalks, even when it was featured in unexpected ways.
5. All about the Eighties

If summer 2016 brought back the style of the 90s, beauty trends in spring summer 2017 include a heavy dose of the 80s. Subtle iterations and retro throwbacks brought the Eighties back in full force. Kenzo included lipstick-bright blush to the temples of its models, while Adam Selman and Chanel featured the side-swept curls. Most evidently, Marc Jacobs’s entire show was a display of the Eighties rave culture, starting with metallic eye make-up to colored dreadlocks. A pineapple pony and a sideways sweep made an appearance for even more nostalgic vibes.
