Do you need something a little stronger to take your makeup off each night? Then you may be interested in the product we are reviewing today, the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water.

The Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup is a facial cleanser that soothes and refreshes your skin while removing hard-to-remove waterproof makeup in just one step.  This makeup remover removes dirt, excess oil, and impurities as well as waterproof or long-wear face, lip, and eye makeup.  It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.  This product is paraben-free, fragrance-free, sulfate-free, and silicone-free.  You do not need to rinse your face after applying, and you don’t need to rub your face harshly.  This makeup remover lifts dirt and impurities like a magnet without causing irritation on the skin.

Things to Consider When Trying Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup

Not all makeup removers are made the same.  While they all have one purpose, which is to remove makeup, some of them are more effective than others.  Before purchasing the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup, you’ll want to go over these considerations:

  • What kind of makeup do you buy?  In order for you to buy the right makeup remover, you must consider what kind of makeup products you buy.  If you like to buy cream-based foundation formulas, then a makeup cleanser and micellar water will work best for you.  The Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water is an excellent option for you if that is the kind of makeup you buy.  If you apply black mascara and eyeliner, the best option for you would be a biphasic makeup remover.  Lastly, if you need to remove lipstick you will want to purchase a product that is made for removing lipstick.  However, the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water description says that it can remove lipstick as well.
  • Do you have sensitive skin?  According to experts, if you have sensitive skin you’ll want a makeup remover that does not contain any alcohol and has a low acid concentration.  This makeup remover does not contain any alcohol, and according to customers does not contain much (if any) acid.  The description of this product says it is safe for all skin types, and many customers agreed that those with sensitive skin can use this.
  • How much time do you have in the evening?  A makeup remover is obviously for removing makeup at nighttime when you want your makeup taken off.  Consider how much time you have in the evening.  Miceller water, like this product, is great for those who are busy and tired at night because you don’t need to rinse your face when you’re done.  Makeup wipes work great too because they don’t require water. However, if you have a little extra time in the evening and want to have a complete makeup removal routine, start with a different formula of makeup remover, then follow up with a little micellar water and finally, wash and hydrate your face before going to bed.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Review: Is It Worth It?

This makeup remover removes dirt, excess oil, and impurities as well as waterproof or long-wear face, lip, and eye makeup.  It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. This product is paraben-free, fragrance-free, sulfate-free, and silicone-free.  You do not need to rinse your face after applying, which is great for those who become tired at night or are busy.  This makeup remover lifts dirt and impurities like a magnet without causing irritation on the skin.  Overall, this is an excellent choice for those wanting to remove makeup in an easy way.  In just one step, even waterproof makeup will be removed.  The price is also pretty good.

Who Shouldn’t Buy This Product

Do not buy this product if you are allergic to the ingredients.  The following are the ingredients:  AQUA/WATER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ISOHEXADECANE, POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, DISODIUM EDTA, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, POLYAMINOPROPYL BIGUANIDE. F.I.L.# D178190/1.

Some customers reported that this product irritated their eyes.  While this product is safe for sensitive skin, it may not be good for sensitive eyes.  If you have sensitive eyes, you may want to stay away from this makeup remover.

Another complaint that some customers had was that this product did not remove makeup in one swipe.  According to customers, it requires a lot of pads and micellar water in order for the makeup to come off.  There really isn’t anything you can do about this, but be aware that it may take a little while to take your makeup off.  If you are a busy person, you may want to check out a quicker makeup remover.

Lastly, the product description says this product is oil free but some customers thought otherwise.  They said it left an oily residue on their skin.  And speaking of oil, some customers said this makeup remover did not help remove the oil on their skin, despite the fact that it says it will in the description.  These two cons were not very common, but you should consider if this will be an problem for you.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup

The Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup is a great product to try if you are looking for an easy way to remove makeup.

While most of the customer feedback was positive, there were a few cons about this product.  First, it can cause irritation to the eyes according to customers.  If you have sensitive eyes, be aware that this product may burn your eyes a little.  Second, some customers commented that this product does not remove makeup very quickly.  You’ll need to wipe it across your face a couple of times before the makeup will come off.  Third, customers said this was oily, although the description says there is no oil in it.

Finally, this will not remove the natural oil on your skin like the description says.  Keep these cons in mind as you purchase this.  If you need a quick makeup remover for sensitive eyes that will remove oil and not add oil to the skin, you may want a different product.  Check out the alternative section later in this article for some similar makeup removers.

Social Proof

I’ve scoured the internet for information for the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water, For Waterproof Makeup.  I’ll share some of what I found on Amazon here:

“For most of my adult life I have gone to bed with my make-up on. By the end of the day I am just too tired to wash it off. I started using micellar water a few months ago because it sounded like it would be quick and easy to use. I was amazed at how well it takes my make-up off! I found that cotton balls aren’t big enough, so I found some baby wipes that I had at home, and they worked great! I just put a few squirts of the micellar water on the wipe to get it fairly wet. Then I wipe my face really well. I use it on all parts of my face except for my eye lids. I had a bit of an allergic reaction when I used it on my eyes. (This is not uncommon for me because I have a lot of eye allergies. I believe there is a version for sensitive skin that I am planning on trying after I run out.)

After I wipe off my make-up, I will sometimes go over my face again with a deep-cleansing toner to see if there is much make-up left. There is usually almost nothing left! There would always be a fair amount of foundation on the cotton ball after cleansing with regular facial cleanser. It takes me only about a minute to clean my face before bed. It is so quick and thorough that I am much more likely to find a minute at the end of the day to wash my face now. I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical about using this product at first. Now it is the only product I will use to cleanse my face at night.”

“I’m shocked that this actually works! I’d never heard of micellar water before I started looking for a makeup remover that would take off waterproof mascara.  I recently switched to waterproof mascara b/c I got sick of washable mascara leaving flakes all over my cheeks. I tried a couple of waterproof-makeup removers and even plain coconut oil, but nothing completely removed it from my lashes. This micellar water removes it without scrubbing, and it doesn’t sting my eyes at all.  The waterproof mascara doesn’t melt off the way washable brands do, and you do have to be a bit patient b/c it takes repeat wiping (but not rough scrubbing!) to remove it all. But if you press a soaked cotton pad to your closed eye for a bit and then gently and repeatedly wipe, the waterproof mascara comes off.”

“A must have essential, I keep this well stocked for different aspects of cleansing.  As a rather unorthodox application for this miceller water, I often use this to clean my Invisalign retainers. After a quick cleanse with this product, involving mild brushing with a soft toothbrush, followed by a thorough rinse; it leaves my trays feeling brand new! After trying everything from peroxide, toothpaste, or even tablets meant for invisable braces; I am convinced nothing else will clean them half as well as this micellar water will.  As for typical applications for this product, it is a fantastic stand alone facial cleanser. I like the fact that it doesn’t feel oily or heavy like other waters do. A little really does go a long way, and is perfect for those nights when you’re so sleepy you can’t bother with a full routine.I’ve recommended this product to anyone that would listen! Garnier also makes a travel size bottle that I keep with me at all times.”
