5 Avocado Face Mask Recipes for a Natural Approach to Skincare

May 1, 2018 by Jennifer Scott

The avocado face mask is a haven of skin benefits, but we knew that already, didn’t we? Ever since humankind first discovered the wonders avocados could do for our health, everything’s been a nonstop race to discover more and more practical uses.

A while back, we covered some simple DIY hair mask recipes which can nourish your scalp and result in thicker, healthier hair. Today, we’ll continue the tradition of exploring benefits of avocados by suggesting some equally quick and simple recipes – this time for your face.

5 Avocado Face Mask Recipes

#1 Classic Recipe

  • 1/2 soft avocado
  • 2 tbs. hot water
  • 1 tsp. honey

Using a fork or a mixer, mash the avocado. Take the honey and then dissolve it into the water then mix it in with the mashed avocado. You can apply the resulting mixture using just your fingers, though we recommend a brush for better control. Keep it on for 10 minutes and then rinse off.

#2 Avocado and Yogurt Face Mask

  • 1/4 ripe avocado
  • 1 tsp. plain organic yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp. honey

An effective avocado face mask for acne, this recipe manages to bring some moisture to your skin just as well. To prepare the mask, mash up the avocado until it becomes even in texture and without any lumps. Then, stir in the yogurt and the honey until you form a paste. Afterward, apply using your fingers or a special brush and then leave on for approximately 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.

#3 Avocado and Oatmeal Face Mask

  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal

Finally, here we have an avocado face mask without honey. Following the instructions, prepare the oatmeal as intended. Rid the avocado of its seed and skin and then mash it so that you can properly blend it in with the oatmeal. Once you have a uniform paste without lumps, apply to skin, keep on for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Useful for adding moisture to your face, this recipe also helps restore damaged skin.

#4 Avocado and Apricot Face Mask

It might as well be the best avocado face mask given the fact that it’s so simple to make. If you’ve got an avocado and some apricots nearby, simply mash them and then mix until you get a pasty texture. Apply to your face for 30 minutes or as an overnight mask if you need stronger action.

#5 Avocado and Banana Face Mask

  • 1 soft avocado
  • 1 banana
  • Egg yolk

In a bowl, mash the avocado and then add the banana and egg yolk, stirring everything together until you get a uniform consistency. Apply for approximately 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. This is a handy recipe for people struggling with oily skin since it absorbs excess sebum and keeps it in balance.

Wrapping Up

Making your own avocado face mask is as easy as it is relatively fun. All the ingredients are common and accessible, which means a mere run to the store will be enough to get your hands on them immediately. So, whenever you’re not mashing them for your skin treatment, you can just use them to prepare some bombing meals. Which face mask idea if your favorite? Share with us below!
