Top 6 Home Remedies for Age Spots

July 28, 2017 by Jennifer Scott

We all know that aging comes with a cost we all have to pay and sometimes some home remedies for age spots can help. Besides wrinkles, some people also experience brown spots. These are also known as liver spots, and they may appear on face, neck, and hands. Specialists indicate that they are not caused by aging. Liver spots appear due to sun damage that accumulated over the years.

They are common in people with fair skin and those who used to spend a lot of time lying in the sun. Even if they are not dangerous, they can make you look much older. Therefore, many people try to remove them. In what follows, we provided some home remedies for age spots that you should use.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar features alpha hydroxy acids. Therefore, due to this ingredient, it is considered a very good skin exfoliator. It will help lighten your skin, ameliorating your age spots. Apply a dab of apple cider vinegar on the affected skin before going to bed and leave it overnight. Repeat this on a daily basis, and you will see the results in three to four weeks.

Onions

They contain sulfur compounds which are used as an antiseptic. Therefore, they work very well on alleviating age spots. Furthermore, they also contain acids that help at skin exfoliation. Rub some slices of onion on the age spots you have and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Then, rinse well to make sure the odor disappears.

Buttermilk

It contains lactic acid which helps to rejuvenate and restore your skin. Therefore, it will diminish the spots on your skin. Just use a cotton pad to apply some buttermilk on the affected areas. Allow it to sit for approximately 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. Furthermore, you can add some drops of lime juice in the buttermilk bowl in case you have acne prone skin.

Papaya

It contains enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids that can aid the skin exfoliation process while reducing age spots and blemishes. Therefore, your complexion will have a natural glow. First, make sure that you are not allergic to it. Then, cut off a slice of green papaya and place it on your age spots. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Lemon

Lemons contain vitamin C which is known to have wonderful effects when it comes to skin whitening. Therefore, it naturally lightens aging spots and freckles. The citric acid helps to remove dead skin cells, and the new layer of skin will surface. You just need to slice a lemon and rub the slices on your skin on the affected areas.  Let the juice sit for 15 minutes and then rinse your skin.

Dandelions

They have many health benefits, including rejuvenating the skin and eliminating dead skin cells. Take some dandelions and break off the stem. Then, rub the sap on your age spots. If you use this twice a day, you will notice significant changes.
