Have you ever had to pack for a long trip and been at a loss when it comes to your beauty tools? I like to style my hair all the time when I’m on a trip. When you’re on a trip making memories and taking pictures, it’s important to look cute! At least it’s important to me. I’m more likely to try harder when I’m going out and about than I am in the comfort of my own home. I even worked at a grocery store for a time and I had to wear a hat all the time. It was for food safety purposes of course, but no fun! I love doing my hair and hats just mess it all up. Ugh. Anyway, curling my ponytail was a go to!

But when I’m on a trip, I make room for a curling wand and a straightener. They aren’t that big, but it can be difficult to make room for them all the time. I never really thought about getting something new that I could have on hand and pack easily. It was a smart idea, but I have always been the type to make due rather than get more stuff. But we started our list of the 10 Best Curling Irons of 2017, the cutest little curling iron was included on the list! It is travel sized and perfect for on the go use! So, although I may have never thought about the fact that there was an easy little solution to fix my packing problem, I do now. And I am thoroughly interested! The Berta Ceramic Curling Iron is mini, travel sized, and the topic of this review! It’s time to give you the rundown as I look into this cute and super convenient product! 

Things to Consider When Trying the Berta Ceramic Curling Iron

I have always made it a habit of looking into all the different features of a product before buying it. This is a great way to knowing what you are actually going to get out of the product. I don’t like having super high expectations because a single person told me it was the best thing they’d ever used. While it is great for the person who gave me the recommendation, I still like to know what more people said about it and break down the product and all its features. So here are the things I found in my research!

Technology: This is small, compact and simple. It has the barrel width of 1 inch and a length of about 4 inches. The handle is small, making the total length of the whole product about 10 inches. It has an high, low and off switch. It also has a cord with a 360° swivel action that makes it easier to use. Last, but certainly not least, it has the same ceramic tourmaline coated barrel that all the most popular products have now!

Efficiency: It heats up quickly and is a wonderful travel item. It is so small and easy to pack!

Type of Hair: This only has the temperature setting of “low and high.” I have no idea what temperature “low” is supposed to be, but high is 350°F. This makes it good for normal and thick types of hair. It would be great for thin hair because it is so small, but I have no idea how damaging it might be. I would recommend that you don’t hold it on your hair for long and always using heat protectant.

Multiple Hair Benefits: This is made with negative ion technology. It is the same thing most new products are made of. It is wonderful because it heats evenly. It also smooths your hair as it curls. It even adds some extra shine! I think the best part about this is that it actually reduces static and frizz!

Curling Process: I watched a few videos to figure out the best way to use such a little curling iron and found some great results. A woman started by spraying her hair with heat protectant and sectioning out her hair. Then she took a small section and clamped in the middle of the section. Then she curled, held for about 5-8 seconds and proceeded to slide the curling iron down almost to the tips, curling up again. When she released, the whole section was curled! It was super easy and I think that would probably be the best way to use this mini iron!

Design Flaw: The perk is also a bit of a downfall here. It is small, which makes it super easy to travel with or pop in your purse. But being so little makes it hard to use and there isn’t much room for my favorite features. There isn’t a lot of heat control, auto shut off and it takes longer to do your hair.

Who Should Buy This Product

If you travel a lot and want to be able to fit a curling iron in your bag easily, this is a cool little product! It would even fit in your purse! Personally, I would have loved to have this after some of the long days I pulled at my old job. I would work weekends and afterwards I would go out afterwards. There were plenty of times I curled my hair the night before so I wouldn’t have to do it in the morning. Sleeping on my hair and then working all day definitely made me wish I could do a quick touch up. This would have been so great to have then! If you have ever had the same problems I’m sure you can relate!

Who Shouldn’t Buy This Product

The Berta curling iron is probably more for patient beauty enthusiasts. It will take some time to do all of your hair. Probably double the amount of time it takes with a normal sized item. This is also not really recommended for daily use, since it would be way easier to use a full sized curling iron instead. This is more for touch ups or when you’re traveling since hotels have blow dryers, not other styling items. I would also not recommend this for someone who wants a high quality product. This is a cheap and affordable item. While the price is a perk to some people, others need to remember: you get what you pay for!

Berta Ceramic Curling Iron

The Bera curling iron is a very simple product, very much like all its big brothers in all the important ways! I doubt this will be anyone’s go-to product for everyday use, but then again that isn’t really what it was made or meant for. This simple product is great on the road and in your travels. It is small and compact, with a barrel that is the width of about 1 inch and about 4 inches long. So it is super easy to carry around! It has a good sized swivel cord, a cute little clamp and a on/off switch, as well as the option for low or high heat.

As usual, I want to run through all the benefits of this product. Given that it is a bit simple and its small size, it probably won’t be a huge list. This isn’t because it is a bad product, it just doesn’t have as much room! But this little iron has plenty to give considering the size!

  • This is an extremely affordable curling iron.

  • It has a very short barrel of only about 4 inches. The total length of the item is almost 10 inches.

  • The small size makes it the perfect travel sized curling iron for any light packer!

  • It has a low/high/off switch that gives you a few options as far as heat. But it does not have any kind of automatic shut off feature.

  • The highest temperature is 350°F. This is pretty impressive for its small size!

  • It has a reasonably sized cord with a 360° swivel action. This makes curling your hair so much easier! There is less of a chance of getting tangled and frustrated!

  • The size of the barrel is 1 inch. This is a great size for medium and long hair. It may be a bit too large for shorter hair styles, but that is something that you would have to determine for yourself!

  • This curling iron is so small that it heats up quickly and evenly so you can get to work on your hair as fast as possible!

  • The clamp is comfortable, but there are some that say it can be very loose. This was probably intended to prevent you from creating kinky curls. It makes it more challenging to use for some people.

  • The Berta curling iron comes with 1 year replacement plan and 2 year warranty. So if you have any issues at all with this mini iron you can always get help fixing or replacing it!

In the end, this is a solid styling tool! It doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but it does have all the basic needs. This is really meant more for basic use, not so much for daily use! So while some may not be very impressed, it actually is surprisingly efficient for such a small product! It heats up hot enough for beautiful curls and is a great size. It is really meant for travel and as long as it meets those few requirements it will make a fantastic travel companion!

I watched some vlogs and did my research, but it was a little difficult. I personally never knew about this little curling iron and it seems like not a lot of other people do either. That isn’t because I wouldn’t want it, I just didn’t know it existed! The same fact is probably true for others. This product might be super helpful for a lot of people who have no idea it’s even an option!

Those who gave this a try actually loved it! They said it wasn’t as hard to get used to as they were expecting. It wasn’t as good as a full sized product, but then again most of them weren’t really expecting it to be. Those who bought it for travel said it worked great. Since it is not dual voltage, I would recommend only using it for your travels to places with U.S. power outlets.

If you like to have a lot of options for one set price, this could be a great addition to your styling arsenal! It has a really wide variety of barrels in different sizes and shapes. It is also good for travel, since it comes with a case for easy storage and organization. However, this definitely not nearly as compact as the Berta.

But if you need to have a lot of options, even when you travel, this could be a really cool product for you!

This is a curling iron that is really similar to Berta in a lot of ways. The barrel is obviously larger and that makes it much easier to use.. It has some great extra features that I think are important for a really good curling iron. Such as adjustable temperature controls, an ergonomic grip with anti-slip properties, great cord length and 360° swivel feature. It is another curling iron with basic features!

Who Would Use This Curling Iron

If you are just starting out, this could be another great starting point! I also haven’t used a normal curling iron in a long time, so I wouldn’t mind getting something like this to get back in the game. It is perfect because it is so straightforward!

Conclusion

The best way to look at this product, is that it is the handy little tool that will help you in your travels! It is small, easy to pack and not too hard to use. It isn’t going to be something you’ll want to use all the time. Some people might not even use it to curl their whole head and might prefer it for a touchup tool instead. No matter what you really want to use it for, it is a super convenient beauty tool when you’re very busy and on the go!

There have been plenty of times I wished I had something better to carry around. I actually brought my full sized wand with me in my bag. But having something that in your purse at work is a little ridiculous. Having something smaller would have been so much better. I actually am really considering this item for myself. I want to start traveling more and taking road trips. When you go away, most hotels don’t really have anything at all, but if you’re lucky you still can’t expect more than a blow dryer.
