When it comes to your wedding day, it can be hard to narrow everything down to the finest little details. The wedding planning experience can be exhausting. There are a lot of different things to focus on while wedding planning. But no matter what it’s important to have fun with the process and stay excited. When I was planning my wedding, the most exciting part was figuring out my own look and imagining how my soon-to-be-husband would react. But even something that simple got pushed off. I had such a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do with my hair. All because I was so burnt out doing other things. In the end, I had a friend put my hair into whatever bridal updo she thought would work with a veil. There was also no way I could choose any wedding hair accessories by that point.

Wedding hair accessories were something I wanted on my wedding day. But it wasn’t the end of the world when it didn’t work out. I planned an incredible wedding in a little less than six months, with a ton of help, so I had to be super flexible. But if you have the time to perfect every last detail and still enjoy the process, I have a fun guide for you! I want to give you a list of all the different options for hair accessories. I also want to let you in on a few tips for choosing the right ones! Even if I don’t help you select the perfect accessory, I hope to at least give you some ideas!

wedding headpieces, headpieces, bridal hair pieces, mother of the bride hair, blue flower crown, white headband, decorative hair clips, wedding hair combs, head accessories, hair accessories for wedding, hair brooch, headpiece jewelry, headbands for short hair, flower crown headband, bridesmaid hair, decorative hair combs, boho wedding hair, hair accessories for short hair, wedding hairstyles with flowers, natural hair accessories, vintage hair accessories, hair headbands, beach wedding hair, short hair wedding, wedding hair, hair pins, hair jewelry, bridal hair, bridal hair accessories, wedding hair pieces, hair crown, wedding updo, wedding hair down, bohemian hair, hair ornaments, decorative hair clips

Tips For Choosing a Wedding Hair Accessories

When it comes to choosing a wedding hair accessory, you need to have your hairstyle and dress already figured out. The main reason for this is because you need everything to match. If you aren’t usually the type of person to care about matching jewelry, you might want to consider it on your wedding day. It brings the whole look together!

The best way to do that is to base everything off of your wedding band and engagement ring. If you plan to have gold or rose gold jewelry, you may want to go for an ivory, off-white, or champagne dress. Rather than a pure white material. A white dress would look best with bright, silver or sparkly jewelry and hair accessories.

In turn, it is crucial to make sure you choose your hair accessories after you select your hairstyle. It will work both ways if there is a particular hair accessory you have always wanted to wear on your wedding day. Choose a hairstyle that will work with that accessory. For instance, to wear a hair vine accessory, you must have a particular hairstyle. A hair vine will work best with a half up and half down hairstyle. The same goes for other hair accessories. You may not want to choose something large if you are wearing a veil too. Small accent accessories can add the right amount of sparkle to your look.

Types of Bridal Styles

The overall style you choose has a lot to do with what kind of hair accessories you will also choose. I want to focus on a few different types of brides. If you don’t that that you fit into any of these categories, that is fine. Your wedding day look can be a mix of a few different kinds of styles. You know what you like, and you set the stage. There are no real rules you have to follow on your big day. I know brides who have worn simple white summer dresses and others who needed to have the perfect princess dress. There is no need to shoot for the stars when your budget isn’t that big. The wedding isn’t the most important part of getting married.

Classic/vintage bride

I wanted to fit this style more than anything. I had always imagined having a vintage looking dress, with vintage lace, and a lovely wedding hair comb. The classic style is perfect all year round because it is made up of the looks that never go out of style. Classic looking brides can also pull off gold themed hair jewelry and gorgeous pearl headpieces. I honestly think that this is the best style to choose for a winter wedding. Not too many people bother having winter weddings where I live. But if I were going to, I would want the classic style.

Beach/Summer Bride

If you are going to have a summer wedding, a classic way to go is wedding hair with flowers. Or even a white or blue flower crown. I love the idea of putting flowers in peoples hair. But I don’t know if that is always the best choice if your summer wedding is on the beach.

If you’re getting married on the beach, you may want to consider a sturdy hairstyle with pretty, but strong, clips or combs. That way the wind can’t whip your hair around throughout the ceremony! Flowers aren’t the only option. You could also use hair clips, hair pins, or a white headband! Beach wedding hair would be the most fun to play with. There are so many cute little hair brooches you could choose from that look like sea stars or another beach theme!

Boho Bride

If you’re on the search for a less traditional style with lots of incredible little touches, a boho bride style is your best bet. They can get away with anything, and it looks incredible! Wedding hair chains have become popular as wedding hair accessories because of boho brides. It looks almost like a gypsy style, and I’m all for it. They typically pair it with their hair down.

Other options for boho brides include flower crowns, headbands that go across your forehead or just simple accents to their hair like braids, hair clips or even no wedding hair accessories.

Romantic Bride

I would have been in this category. My dress was champagne and ivory. My hair was swept up into a loose, romantic updo with little-braided accents. We had wildflowers all over the place, homemade stained glass cups, and handpainted pictures with couple quotes. The whole thing was straightforward but elegant, and I loved it. But I was wearing a veil and didn’t bother with wedding hair accessories. Although if I hadn’t been so burnt out by the end of the whole experience definitely would have picked out hair accessories!

If I could go back, I would have loved to find the perfect hair comb. I also love all the different wedding headpiece options there are. Some of them can be a little over the top for me. But I had some incredible lace and beading on my gown. It would have been amazing to get a headpiece that matched my dress!

Different Types of Wedding Hair Accessories

There are so many different kinds of wedding hair accessories to choose from. It should be easy to find different options that will go with your dress. The hard part will be narrowing it down to your favorite one! For the sake of seeing all the different options and what they can be used for, I want to give you a quick rundown of some different wedding hair accessories to glam up your look!

Wedding Headpiece

If you’re going for an extravagant look, an over the top headpiece is the way to go. I know this isn’t everyone’s first choice. But I also know a lot of different women who want to look thoroughly over the top and unforgettable. You could even consider a little crown. Not my style, but it’s the perfect option if you have a big princess dress. It would also be a great choice if you had a vintage style dress and got a 1920s style headband!

Decorative Hair Combs

I have always wanted to use hair combs. There are so many different kinds, and they are all so beautiful! If you’re going to wear your hair in a loose style. You could get a blowout and use hair combs to sweep the front back. It would still be loose and lovely, but it wouldn’t get in your way. Not to mention, they always make beautiful wedding hair accessories!

Decorative Hair Clips and Hair Pins

Hair clips and hairpins make beautiful additions to any look. They are also the most natural things to add to wedding hairstyles. They are the most versatile of all of the different wedding hair accessories. They come as little pearl pins, rhinestone clips, or even as golden feathers or flowers pins! If you’re going for a boho wedding style, I recommend these little clip-ins.

wedding headpieces, headpieces, bridal hair pieces, mother of the bride hair, blue flower crown, white headband, decorative hair clips, wedding hair combs, head accessories, hair accessories for wedding, hair brooch, headpiece jewelry, headbands for short hair, flower crown headband, bridesmaid hair, decorative hair combs, boho wedding hair, hair accessories for short hair, wedding hairstyles with flowers, natural hair accessories, vintage hair accessories, hair headbands, beach wedding hair, short hair wedding, wedding hair, hair pins, hair jewelry, bridal hair, bridal hair accessories, wedding hair pieces, hair crown, wedding updo, wedding hair down, bohemian hair, hair ornaments, decorative hair clips

Bridesmaids Hair

At my wedding, I wasn’t particular about how I wanted my bridesmaids to do their hair. It was a pretty solid mix of different hairstyles. I thought that was the easiest way to go because they all had such different hair types. One girl’s hair was very thin, and she has a hard time putting it up. Everyone else had varying lengths and thicknesses.

When it comes to hair, it might be easier for everyone to wear similar hair accessories. If they all have identical flowers crowns, headbands or hair clips. Whatever wedding hair accessories you choose. The bridesmaid’s accessories don’t need to match the brides accessories. They only need to match each other! Although, they don’t need to match if you don’t want to worry about it.

Just because everyone says you need to have the perfect looking bridal party doesn’t mean you have to dictate every little thing. I was perfectly happy letting my bridesmaids choose their hairstyles and the style of their dresses. All the dresses were the same color, and that was all! It was so much simpler, and it was the perfect way to keep everyone happy. That way everyone could pick a dress style that fit them and that they would be comfortable in. Considering I had two pregnant women in my bridal party, that was pretty important for me!

Conclusion

When you’re trying to choose the right hair accessories for your wedding just pick your favorite. I can give you all the tips in the world, but it is entirely up to you and your sense of style. On your big day, or any other day, you need to stick to your style. Go online, get ideas, but don’t try to transform yourself into anyone else. You’re getting married soon! Your partner obviously thinks you have been doing all the right things!

Don’t stress out about the small things. Just ask for help and advice where you need it. When it comes to your hair, have fun with it. It can be hard to get everything to look perfect every time.  I also know what it’s like to be a girl and have a desire to look perfect when everyone else is paying attention to you. But to be honest, they don’t matter. Look the way you want to look on your big day! Impress the socks off your new hubby! So take advantage of the moment and choose any wedding hair accessories that make you happy!
