4 Common Beauty Questions With Answers From Specialists

June 11, 2018 by Jennifer Scott

If you usually read beauty blogs, magazines, or watch beauty channels, you might find certain similarities in people’s questions. That is because there is always a set of curiosities that seem to need answering regularly. These questions need to be addressed, and it’s important to get the right answers from specialists who know what they are talking about. This is why celebrity makeup artists Shannon Pezzetta and Mary Wiles, who has worked with Naomi Watts and Saoirse Ronan to name a few, will answer some of these common beauty questions that everybody seems to have.

Whether they’re related to foundation, mascara, or eyeshadow, there are always uncertainties that some people have. It’s interesting that most people seem to have the same questions, which makes our job easier. However, this also means that these problems really do bother them and need answering as soon as possible. We cannot answer all of them here, but here are some expert answers to some of the most common beauty questions out there. Here we go!

What makeup should I apply if I don’t have time?

Mary Wiles’ advice for a quick, two-minute makeup routine is to first curl your lashes and apply some mascara. You can then apply a soft BB cream followed by a highlighter. Finally, try to find a dual-purpose tint, meaning something that can be applied both on your cheeks and lips, as blush and lipstick. Cream blush also works for this if you are really in a hurry. If you have oily skin, skip the highlighter and put some powder on. You will look fresh and pretty in no time.

What shade of under-eye concealer should I use?

According to our makeup artists, it seems that your under-eye concealer should be a bit lighter than your foundation, by about one shade. Wiles says that if your foundation matches not only your skin shade but also your skin tone, choosing your concealer based on that will make it blend in and look good too. As for how to apply it, simply pat it on your under-eye area with your fingertips, gently.

How often should I wash my makeup brushes and tools?

In order to avoid any eventual skin issues and germs, Wiles says that you should take the time to wash your brushes and tools after each use. We know, you don’t always have the time to do that. But you can leave them in the morning and come back to them later, when you have more time on your hands. It’s dangerous to use makeup tools many times without cleaning them properly. There is dangerous bacteria in there that can cause serious problems for your skin.

How to stop my eyeshadow from creasing?

This is probably the most common question that people have. It seems that some of the best solutions for this problem would be to use an eyelid base or a makeup eye base. After that, you can apply a very fine powder to make sure that your eye base is soft and crease-free. Only then start applying your eyeshadow. You’ll notice that it will suddenly stop creasing.
