Recently I was suffering from severe acne issues. It was extremely frustrating for me because I have never had so many problems with my skin! But here I was with cystic acne all over my cheeks. Dry skin patches plagued the skin around any acne as well. And somehow I also was having some issues with oily skin. So the dry skin patches didn’t make much sense to me. But overall it was a serious struggle and I wasn’t sure what to do. So I decided to go back to the only solution I knew might help me. Tea tree oil! Using tea tree oil for acne, not only cleared up my skin but it also balanced everything out. I no longer have issues with oils building up on my skin either!
While this is one of my favorite oils for acne, there are some others you could consider as well. If you’re curious about the best essential oils for acne and other skin remedies, you’ve come to the right place. It’s extremely beneficial for your skin and body if you can use all natural ingredients to cure ailments. It cuts out any unnecessary chemicals and cuts down on the guesswork that comes with skin problems. I will also touch on some great tea tree oil products I would recommend!
Why Does Tea Tree Oil Help With Acne?
Tea tree oil is an antimicrobial product. It kills any bacteria on your skin, as well as any infections in your pores. That makes it extremely effective as a deep cleansing treatment for your skin.
Acne scars are another thing we all struggle with when we suffer from acne. Even when the acne is long gone, your skin is damaged. It doesn’t really matter whether you picked at your pimples or didn’t touch them once. Acne causes damaged below the surface of your skin. Your body produces collagen to fix the damage that was done. That will leave behind new skin that doesn’t always match up with the old skin. Acne scars can be made of little marks on your skin and give it an uneven appearance. They can also be made up of red marks that never seem to disappear.
Tea Tree Oil For Acne Scars
Tea tree oil can help cleanse and soothe your pores. That will not only help get rid of acne, that makes it and option for acne scares. Tea tree oil for acne scars can be effective because it will soothe any redness. It will also promote healing. But there aren’t too many studies that show that it makes a dramatic difference. But in my opinion, the best way to get rid of acne scars is to prevent them from happening in the first place. So tea tree oil is exactly what you need to prevent acne scars!
Tea Tree Oil Products for Skincare
Face Wash
As I said before, I use tea tree oil on a regular basis to prevent acne and keep my skin balanced. I normally use The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Face Wash. I’ve used this every time I took a shower for the past few years. Recently, when my acne issues began, they weren’t too bad, but I couldn’t get them to go away entirely. So I figured that this face wash wasn’t working for me anymore. I switched to Neutrogena’s Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Cleanser.
I’m not saying that is Neutrogena product was bad. It helped to clear up some of the acne in the beginning but made my dry skin so much worse. That was completely my fault though because I should have taken my dry skin issues into account and not gotten an oil-free cleanser.
Anyway, I switched back to the Tea Tree Oil Face Wash and made sure to use it twice a day, every day and always moisturize. Now my skin is completely back to normal and I’m just working on getting rid of acne scars. So more than anything, I recommend using this product with a good skincare routine. Otherwise, you won’t give it enough time to do its job.
Tea Tree Lotion
Now a big issue with tea tree oil is the fact that it is a strong oil. It will dry out your skin, especially if you already have dry skin issues as I do. So using it in a lotion form might be a better option for anyone with dry skin. You will still get the benefits from the tea tree oil, but it will be doubled up in a tea tree moisturizer. You could also use the face wash and use this Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion.
Tea Tree Oil Cream
When it comes to tea tree oil cream, you don’t have to get something that is strictly made with tea tree oil. You want something with packed full of natural ingredients. This tea tree face cream made by Era Organics is just the thing to try! It is made with all natural ingredients like burdock, aloe vera, white willow extract and more. It is the perfect mix of essential oils for blackheads!
Tea Tree Essential Oil
One of the biggest questions people have is, “where can I buy tea tree oil?” I can understand it seems like an odd product. This might be the first time you’ve ever heard of it. But the truth is, you can find it in any drugstore or health store where you would find essential oils. I got mine at Rite Aid, but the next time I get it I plan to find a better deal online.
Don’t worry about getting this giant bottle either. There are endless uses of tea tree oil, so the more the merrier!
When using tea tree oil, don’t apply it directly to your skin. Nothing really bad will happen when you do. But it will give you some seriously dry skin in the area of application. I used to do this all the time before I read about using a carrier oil, such as sweet almond oil or coconut oil. Mix 2-3 drops with a teaspoon of a gentle oil and apply it as a spot treatment. Or you could mix tea tree oil in with your favorite facial cleanser for added benefits!
Other Uses for Tea Tree Oil
There are so many different uses for tea tree oil. Even though I love using tea tree oil for acne, there are so many different uses for tea tree oil.
For Toothaches and Teeth Whitening
First off, you can actually use it as a mouth rinse. It is such a strong disinfectant that all you need to do is add about 4 drops to a cup of water and swish it would in your mouth like a normal mouthwash. Make sure you don’t swallow this mouthwash either or your stomach will not be pleased with you! It can help soothe and treat gum infections but make sure to always consult a doctor if you’re having serious problems.
It also comes in handy if you have been looking for an all natural tooth whitening treatment. Use it as a mouthwash as directed above. Not only will it clean your mouth, but it will also help whiten your teeth.
Nail and Foot Fungus
I know it can be difficult to find the perfect product to use on your nails or feet when you have nail fungus or athletes foot. But tea tree oil is a fantastic remedy for both! It has such strong antibacterial properties, all you have to do is mix it with a carrier oil and apply it to the affected area. When using it as a fungus treatment I make sure to mix it with a carrier oil, but this time I don’t dilute it as much. Instead, it will be more of a half and half mixture.
Tree Tree Toner
I know that we already covered a lot of different uses for your skin. But tea tree oil can be used as a powerful astringent! It helps to shrink your pores and tighten your skin. I would recommend using it with another product as well. Consider mixing it in with witch hazel, which is another fantastic natural astringent. You could also buy this Tree Tree Toner.
Other Essential Oils for Acne
While tea tree oil is, in my opinion, the best essential oil for acne. That doesn’t mean there aren’t more you could try. I don’t know if tea tree oil will work for everyone. It may be too harsh for some people, I completely understand that. So if you would like a gentle oil to treat your acne, consider these other options.
Lavender Oil
Most people love the smell of lavender and will take any excuse they can to add it to their routine. If you’re one of those people, this is your lucky day! Lavender oil also has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. So it will soothe and moisturize your skin while it helps with your acne issues! It is also linked to stress and anxiety relief, which could be a leading cause of your acne issues.
Clary Sage Oil
As far as essential oils go, I don’t think a lot of people know about clary sage and just how good it can be to clear up your acne. It will help reduce skin inflammation and is a natural remedy for acne and skin irritations.
Juniper Berry Oil
Juniper berry essential oil has natural antibacterial and antimicrobial abilities. That makes it one of the most popular natural remedies for fighting skin irritations and infections. It will leave your skin feeling refreshed and beautiful!
Conclusion
There are a lot of different factors when it comes to clear skin and fighting acne. Tea tree oil for acne is one of the best you’re going to find. There are so many different uses for tea tree oil. You can literally use it from head to toe! So don’t shy away from getting a great deal on a big bottle. It lasts a long time if it is stored correctly and is one of the best multi-purpose essential oils for beauty routines.
I can vouch for tea tree oil because it has saved my skin from terrible breakouts so many times now. But from all my experience I would always recommend using a moisturizer after using any tea tree oil face wash. Otherwise, you may experience some dry skin, especially if you have a dry skin or combination skin type. Other than that there are no real tea tree oil side effects. I should mention that there is a very mild tea tree oil burn when you apply it to broken skin. So if you have pimples that have already been popped you may experience the burning sensation that will subside quickly.
I hope that these recommendations help you get your acne under control once and for all. Just make sure you’re always consistent with your application and get into a good skincare routine. That will give you the best results!
