Everybody has heard that coffee can seriously stain your teeth. But does tea stain your teeth as well? You are about to find the answer. However, a thorough oral hygiene is required whether you drink tea or not. If you take good care of your teeth, you will not have so many problems regarding stains. Moreover, you can keep this issue under control if you apply our recommendations, presented below.

Does Tea Stain Your Teeth?

Unfortunately, tea can stain your teeth. I personally love drinking tea every day, but this doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be aware of the possible negative effects. On the other hand, you shouldn’t stop drinking it because not only it is tasty, but it also provides plenty of benefits for your organism.

Your teeth might eventually become discolored if you are a tea drinker. The simplest and quickest solution is to brush your teeth right after you had tea or coffee. If that is not possible, having a good oral hygiene and brushing at least two times per day will also help.

The Best Tips on Preventing Teeth Staining

If you already have teeth stains, you can still get rid of them by whitening your teeth. There are two possibilities. You can either use a whitening kit and do this procedure at home, or you can make an appointment with your dentist and receive professional care. A teeth-whitening mouthwash can also come in handy. Now, let’s see the most effective tips on how to prevent teeth stains.

#1. Drink Tea the Right Way

Tea is healthy and drinking it might have a lot of benefits for your organism. Therefore, instead of not drinking it, you should learn to do it in a proper way. Does tea stain your teeth? Yes, it does, especially if you are drinking it several times per day. I am sure you have seen what tea does to a cup if it stays long enough in it. The cup develops certain yellow stains. This is exactly what happens to your teeth. After every tea cup try to cleanse your mouth with water if you cannot brush your teeth.

#2. Use the Proper Mouthwash

If, after drinking tea, you cannot brush your teeth, at least try to use a teeth whitening mouthwash. A great alternative to mouthwash is a combination of hydrogen peroxide and water. However, this must be used only once a week. If you use this mix more than one time per week, it might make your teeth sensitive.

#3. Don’t Forget to Floss

Unfortunately, plenty of people skip the flossing part of their daily oral hygiene ritual. You shouldn’t do this because it is an important part of cleaning your teeth. Flossing should be done at least one time every day because it eliminates plaque and food residues. These elements might get stuck in between your teeth and it is hard to take them out without flossing.

Final Words

Bottom line, you can still enjoy a warm cup of tea on a cold winter day without staining your teeth. Does tea stain your teeth? Yes, but that doesn’t mean you should quit this nice relaxing habit. All you have to do is to follow our recommendations described above and develop a thorough oral hygiene.
