The Benefits of Lip Scrubs
DIY lip scrubs are easy to make and have a lot more benefits than you might think. I wanted to include all the individual benefits to help you understand just how great they can be!
- Moisturize and hydrate your lips
- Gently exfoliate lips and rub away dead skin

All of these are great benefits. You might not realize just how dry your lips are until you use a lip scrub and see the difference. Your lips can become dry from simple things. Such as drinking caffeine, UV rays, smoking, hormonal imbalances, licking your lips, or even from chapsticks that contain alcohol! Most of the things we do on a daily basis can have a huge impact on our lips. Since we’re so used to the damage we cause, we don’t think twice about it. Maybe it’s high time for a change! I know it is for me anyway!
How to Exfoliate Lips with a Lip Scrub
It’s honestly as simple as it sounds. All you have to do is wet your lips and scoop up a minimal amount of the lip scrub. Then you can use your fingers or rub your lips together. You’ll need to gently exfoliate like that for 2-5 minutes to get good results. Then you just have to wash away the product and make sure to apply a moisturizer after every use. Also, keep in mind that you won’t need to do this more than once a week in most cases.

This is a homemade lip scrub that you might already have all the ingredients for! At least you’ll probably have most of them. This is a DIY lip scrub without honey, which I thought would be one good extra option because most others are typically made with honey.

- 2 ½ teaspoons of coconut oil
- ½ teaspoon of coffee grounds
- ¼ teaspoon of cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon of granulated white or brown sugar
- 2-3 drops of peppermint oil
All you have to do in combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Super easy and simple. The coffee grounds and coconut oil will act as your mild exfoliants!

Coconut Honey Lip Scrub
This is another incredibly simple lip scrub recipe! It only calls for four ingredients. It is also really nice because it has a lot of antibacterial and moisturizing properties. It also tastes fantastic, so I don’t think I’d blame you at all if you ended up licking it off. It is all natural after all!
Ingredients:
- One teaspoon of honey
- One teaspoon of sweet almond oil
- One drop of peppermint oil
- ½ teaspoon brown sugar
The instructions are the same for this one. All you have to do is mix well in a bowl. Then just store in an airtight container. I also would recommend storing these lip scrubs in the refrigerator to keep them from spoiling.

- ¼ Cup granulated sugar
- 3-4 drops of strawberry flavoring
- 6-8 drops of lime essential oil
