Whenever I travel, I always have a list of things I absolutely need to bring with me. Regardless of how small my bag is. I can pack a single backpack full to the bursting and I’ll be golden for a week. It’s kind of ridiculous! Now if there were any tips on how to make it any easier, I’m always all ears. But when I pack I always bring an array of stuff, so I’m prepared for anything. Obviously I bring things like toothpaste, toothbrush and deodorant. The basics. But I’m a bit of a girly girl at times and I have to bring all my favorite makeup items and my two favorite hair styling tools. As well as cloths for any type of occasion. A girl needs her options!

You see when it comes to the beauty items, I know there is a chance I probably won’t even use them, depending on the trip. If I’m going camping with my family or something, I don’t bother bringing something that needs plugged in. But literally any other kind of vacation means I have to bring them with me. My friends and family don’t even question it at this point!

I know that this isn’t my most practical of habits, but I can’t help myself. I enjoy looking good and putting in the effort. However, I hate having to choose between just a curling iron or just a straightener. Yes, even the incredible super-packer like myself will have to pick and choose on occasion. My favorite beauty styling tools are a large curling wand and a simple straightening iron. Both obviously create very different looks and I like to have some options.

Some of you might say: “Well, why don’t you use your curling iron for both?” Because you can actually curl your hair with a straightening iron for really loose curls. I have never really gotten the hang of that skill though and the one time I accomplished it…well it took me like 3x as long to do all of my hair. I know that a lot of other people probably feel the same way. Or at least I hope I’m not the only one struggling here!

But I came across the best possible solution to my packing dilemma that gave me sort of a “duh” moment. There is actually a tool out there that has both of my favorite features, all in one! Things to Consider When Trying Generic Riwa Curling Iron

So this is actually a very straightforward product. That is very cool considering that it has so much benefit in one little product. It is a little on the pricey side in my opinion because it is made with so much plastic and doesn’t appear to be very sturdy. But that is merely an outside observation since I have never used this item myself.

What I want to do here is introduce you to the promises made by this product that are in fact confirmed by people who have actually tried it. I also want to share some other things people have said, whether they are good or bad. I like to mark down all the things about a product when I’m personally shopping. Just to get a good idea of what I should actually expect to get out of a product! So here I will share all my findings with you!

Technology: This is a very simple tool. It has a long U.S. power cord with a 360° swivel action that makes it easier to use without getting tangled. It has the dual voltage feature means that you can use this product literally anywhere. As long as you have an adapter for their outlet! It only has one temperature setting of 400°F. A simple locking mechanism allows you to switch between using this product as a 1.25 inch curling iron, to a skinny but efficient flat iron.

Efficiency: My favorite part about this particular product is that this product does not need to be cooled off to switch from a curling iron to a straightener. Items like the Xtava 5 in 1 set, or the Parwin Pro Beauty 7 in 1 set are incredible for their multitude of options. But they are more time consuming to swap barrels because they must be cooled off before you can switch barrels.

Type of Hair: I would recommend that this item is really only meant for normal or thick hair. It only has one temperature setting. The benefit of irons that have multiple temperature settings are the fact that they can be safely used on different kinds of hair. This tool is much more limited and may be too harsh for thin and fine hair.                    

Multiple Hair Benefits: This product is another tool made with ceramic tourmaline. It is meant to smooth, shine and protect your hair. The negative ion technology is what relieves you from the issue of frizz and static.

Curling Process: First you always want to spray your hair with some type of heat protectant. Then you lock the straightening feature closed with a switch on the handle. The iron has a clamp, just like any other, so you can proceed normally! If you want to use the straightener, you just unlock it and use as you normally would as well!

Design Flaw: I have the biggest issue with the fact that there is only one heat setting. This means that this tool could be damaging to thin or fine hair. I wouldn’t want to recommend something to anyone when I’m unsure how much damage it might do. If this product was made with better materials on the handle and thumb grip, as well as adding extra temperature settings I would be absolutely head over heels for it!

Who Should Buy This Product

If you are anything like me, you like to travel with your beauty tools. This means for me that I will have one item for curling my hair and one for straightening my hair. I have these pictures from when I was like 14 years old and I was on this retreat with the youth group from my church. I didn’t bring any type of hair styling tools because I didn’t think we were going to have the ability to use them. Needless to say, those are the worst pictures of my hair in the history of my youth. Oh boy, let me tell you, I don’t ever travel without something now. My hair has been more manageable over the years. But I still have those unavoidable bad hair days and I like to have a way to curl or straighten my hair into submission! If you have a tendency to pack everything just in case you need it, this is something that could save you some time and space! Not to mention it can literally be used anywhere in the world, if you have the appropriate adapter!

Who Shouldn’t Buy This Product

As I have already said, I do not recommend this for fine hair. I think that it is just too hot. Reading up on this a little showed me that there are plenty of other people who seem to feel the same way. Most say that if you have very thin or fine hair you want to keep the temperature around 200°F-300°F. Never over 350°F and certainly not at 400°F.

The same goes if you have hair that has been double-processed with bleach. When your hair is very damaged you have a high chance of damaging it further with high temperatures.

This is a great travel companion. It will certainly save you a little space and the tangled cords of multiple items! It is simple to use since all you have to do is flip a switch to change between a flat iron and a curling iron. The ceramic tourmaline barrel is what gives us the negative ion technology.   • Comes with a heat shield made of silica gel. This allows you to pack the curling iron away directly after using it. On average it takes about 10 minutes or so for an iron to cool off entirely. That means you have to wait that long to be able to put it into a bag with other things without melting or ruining them. Not this time!

From what I found on this particular item, it is not widely known by any circumstances. So it really doesn’t have a huge social backing. I do think, however, that this would be a well loved item if it was more known. Items like Conair’s Infiniti Pro Curling Wand are widely known because they have a well established brand. Those brands have been around for what feels like forever. Riwa is definitely not a well known brand and that makes it harder for people to trust it or try it out.

The customers who actually tried this product seem to really love it. They like the 2 in 1 feature and that is normally the reason that they purchase it. So as long as both of those aspects of this product work as expected, everyone is happy! I personally am interested in trying this out myself. It would be so useful to bring with me on vacations!

Conclusion

The Generic Riwa 2 in 1 curling iron and straightener is a fantastic idea for a product. Although it is not widely known, I feel like it should be. I personally would use it because it is so convenient for travel. The fact that it is dual voltage means that it could be used no matter where I would go. Considering I have some big travel plans in the next few years, this is great to hear! This is the type of thing I would definitely want to pack to go out of the country. It will work in other countries as long as I also bring the appropriate outlet adapters. I always want to bring a straightener and a curling iron or wand with me when I go away, this would be the best of both worlds!

The basic features of this product are the most important aspects to pay attention to in my opinion. I think it is important to get something made with good quality materials, so the fact that this is made with a ceramic tourmaline is something I like to see! Overall this item gets a ​fair rating from us because even though it is an incredibly useful item, it does have certain drawbacks.
